The Boat Is Still
The Boat Is Still Is a series of 13 pinhole photographs printed to duratran and illuminated with back lighting within the frames. Combined with found text from Jim Jarmush's 1994 acid western "Dead Man" to create an intangible narrative. "Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don't bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: 'It's not where you take things from - it's where you take them to' - Jim Jarmusch
And doesn't this remind you of when you were on the boat?
And the water in your head was not disimilar from the landscape
have spoken through the fire
and the speaking stones have lain a long time looking at the sun
But I believe they are on the ground and are projected downward by the bolt
You will learn to speak through it and your poetry will now be written with blood
as I made my way back to the lands of my people
by the building of a ship
Flowers of the medecine give us sacred visions that are not for you right now
